MANAGING
THE ACCIDENT AND INCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Aviation Service Providers are required
to implement a Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with Standards and
Recommended Practices (SARPs) contained in ICAO Annex 13 (Accidents and
Incidents investigation) and ICAO Annex 19 (Safety Management System). Such
requirements include the effective implementation and use of investigative
capabilities.
About
Starting with an overview of the legal responsibilities involved as per
ICAO Annex 13, 19 and ICAO Doc. 9859, this course provides you with a practical
understanding of accident preparedness and the details of the investigation
process in the case of an aircraft accident. Gain the knowledge and skills to
manage or participate in an accident response and support formal
investigations.
Course format
This classroom course provides 5 days
(35 hours) of instruction and illustrations and case studies.
Prerequisites
- Professional
level ;
- The recommended
level of language proficiency is
ICAO Operational Level 4
for courses in English.

readiness and logistics for an investigation into an aircraft accident ;
- Step by step process
for managing an accident response including support functions such as managing
communications and the media ;
- Managing
the on-site investigation including safety on the accident site ;
- Flight
recorders ;
- Managing
the airframeor wreckage investigation ;
- Managing
the powerplant investigation both on-site and in the workshop ;
- Managing
the fire investigation ;
- Managing
various aircraft systems investigation.

This course is recommended for personnel involved in accident
investigations from Accident investigation agencies and related aviation
organisationsCivil aviation authorities, Airport authorities, Air navigation
